An interview with Karoline Matzi, Managing Director of IAB Reinraum-Produkte GmbH

Cleanroom technology expertise is in even greater demand during the coronavirus crisis. Right from the start, many companies have been taking their responsibility seriously and offering sought-after solutions. In our interview, Karoline Matzi from IAB Reinraum-Produkte GmbH in Braunschweig, a Cleanzone exhibitor of long standing, talks about her company’s efforts. IAB sells consumables for cleanrooms, including garments, masks, wipes, disinfectants and much else besides.

How is cleanroom technology expertise helping combat the coronavirus pandemic?

“When events began to spin out of control in early March, we decided that the most important thing we could do was to quickly provide our customers with reliable information, so we created a presentation featuring the necessary products and recommendations for protecting against the novel coronavirus. By implementing a precise allocation process, we were able to give priority treatment to system-relevant customers while still covering the needs of our regular customers. We provided our customers with a concise overview of the recommended products in our coronavirus online shop. As you can see, cleanroom companies are able to help in the crisis with their knowledge of contamination control, not to mention their established delivery chains.”

“We are excited about digital Cleanzone. We are very much looking forward to seeing one another again virtually and exchanging ideas with customers, competitors and suppliers – and it goes without saying that solutions for the current crisis will be one of the topics of discussion.”

What has your company done to help?

“In addition to allocating products to critical areas and optimising our procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE), we joined forces with a nearby firm to launch a non-profit project to develop community masks – our ‘Braunschweiger Löwenmaske’, or ‘Brunswick Lion Masks’.

Even so, our most important tool is our sales team and the expert advice they are able to provide. By conducting in-depth and transparent talks with our customers, we were also able to advise them throughout the lockdown.”

In light of the situation, what are you expecting from Cleanzone 2020, which is taking place digitally due to the crisis?

“We are excited about digital Cleanzone. We are very much looking forward to seeing one another again virtually and exchanging ideas with customers, competitors and suppliers – and it goes without saying that solutions for the current crisis will be one of the topics of discussion.”
